French Roses....

This was another painting done on my recent trip to France. White roses picked from the garden of the Gite where we stayed.

Starting from the centre of one rose I worked outwards developing each petal as I went, adding foliage along the way. By turning the rose in my hand I could get different views. I prefer to work this way with flowers rather than draw them first, they have a different kind of freedom with a more natural look.

They were actually white roses, but I decided to add colour to them, after all, white isn't always white.

Thanks so much Krista. I must admit I didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me now.

Hi Cindi....No news yet..

Thank you so much, I guess we all see things we don't like in our work, always wanting to be that much better I suppose. Your words really mean a lot.

Thanks again

The roses are absolutely gorgeous Stephie, with the leaves, buds and vase a complete painting, ready to mount and frame.
