I've always loved Venetian masks and they are such a joy to paint, you are really able to let your imagination go with colour and texture while painting these. I have built up a collection over the last few years and was inspired to add to this after seeing the wonderful photos of Thomas Warm who very kindly gave me his permission to use them as references.Also being inspired by Hazel Soan's new DVD on textures, I decided to incorporate some wax to help create the lace.

Wow...your painting Mystique is stunning! I Love everything about it. The colors, composition...all of it lends itself to a beautiful paintig. I have to say, your painting, is one of my all time favorite watercolors paintings I ever seen.
